Pirates Score 10 Runs In First Inning Off Cubs Starter Jon Lester

The Chicago Cubs had one more game before the All-Star break and Jon Lester was the starter against the Pittsburgh Pirates on a picturesque Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field.

The veteran left-hander didn't make it out of the first inning as the Pirates exploded for 10 runs off Lester. The big blow was Francisco Cervelli's grand slam. Andrew McCutchen then followed with a blast of his own.

After six innings, the Pirates led 13-2.

Lester yielded 10 runs--four earned--on six hits with three walks and no strikeouts in 2/3 of an inning. He threw 53 pitches before departing.
The Cubs looked to go into the break on a high after alternating wins and loss over their past seven games.

Right-hander Chad Kuhl started for the Pirates after Jameson Taillon was was a late scratch with flu-like symptoms.
